Re: Hamer family of Pantpoeth
Hi Natalie,
I don't know the location of your Pantpoeth, Llandinam.
I have a Jane Ashton born about 1815 in Maesyblawd to
Valentine Ashton, Pant, 1773-1845 and Martha Jerman, Glangwden, 1777-1855
Jane married an unknown HAMER & they died in Llanidloes
Jane's uncle John Ashton, Pant, 1778-1823 married an Anne Benbow
in 1799 at Trefeglwys.
Pant is 1/2 mile south-east of Trefeglwys.
I guess these dates are 1 generation early for your Hamers.
Just trying to tie up my loose ends.
Cheers, Tony

If any one is interested in the Hamers that lived at Pantpoeth,
Llandinam at
the time of the 1841 census, I have received some helpful information today
which I wanted to share. I don't know the original source yet.
The 1841 census reads (I am told, I haven't seen it )
James Hamer 55 farmer No
Anne Hamer 50 No
Anne Hamer 30 Yes
Charles Hamer 11 Yes
David Hamer 8 Yes
Thomas Benbow 6 Yes
From the information that I have received James and Anne are the parents,
Anne 30 is the eldest child, who it seems didn't marry. Charles and David
were the youngest two of 9 children. Thomas Benbow *could* be the son of an
elder sister who married a Benbow.
It would seem that no other children appear on this part of the 1841 census
as they are either married or have died.
The whole family is
James & Anne Hamer of Pantpoeth, who had 9 children
Anne b.1810
Mary 1812-1820 aged 8 buried in Newchapel
James 1813-1878 married Catherine Evans
Jane 1817-1840 aged 23 buried in Newchapel
Sarah 1821-1877 married Thomas Price
John 1827-1914 married Ann Jones, had 5 children.
Charles b. 1830 married Margaret Stephens
David 1833-1909 married Sarah Lloyd (he was founder & deacon of Beulah
Chapel Llnadinam)
(female?) name unknown but married a (male) Benbow - not sure
If any one has the 1841 census for the parish of Llandinam and could look up
the families of James & Catherine Hamer, John & Ann Hamer and Charles &
Margaret, I'd be really grateful.
