Dear Carrol
The journey probably went as follows:
South from Eardisley to join the Hereford to Brecon Line, then west as far
as Three Cocks (Aberllynfi) via Whitney, Hay and Glasbury and on to the
Cambrian Line travelling north via Llanelwedd (Builth), Builth Road,
Newbridge on Wye Dol For, Rhayader, Pant y Dwr, Tylwych and on to
Llanidloes.
All these lines were closed in 1961, but were well used in the time period
you are interested in.
Hope this is of some help
Regards
Pat James

Subject: [POWYS] Rail transport 1909... Lyonshall to Llanidloes
My husband's grandfather died in Lyonshall, HEF and was buried in
Dol
Halfren Cemetery, Llanidloes in 1909. His body was taken by train from
Eardisley Station to Llanidloes as noted in the newspaper account below.
Can
any member of the list suggest the route the train would have taken? I've
been trying to figure it out but there seem to have been so many different
companies and lines that I'm quite confused.
We are always very appreciative of the vast amount of knowledge of members
of this forum and hope there is a train enthusiast who can help with this
query.
Thanks for any assistance that can be offered.
Carrol Drew
