I agree that examining the text can help but some spammers duplicate
legitimate data.
Most spammers though are illiterate and can't string two words together,
that alone a sentience.

Many popular websites these days have shortcut link sites: bit.ly (very
popular shortcut site), tidd.ly (Twitter short cut site, I believe),
goo.gl (Google short cut site), etc. People should certainly not have to
know all of these short-cut sites, so examining the text around them is
important.

That's what spam websites look like, so its a dangerous habit to use
shortcuts that look like tht. It's better just to present the real web
site then there's not confusion.
I get junk emails regularly that look like that, so I just delete them for
safety.
