I’m looking for help in tracing a Baptismal Record and/or parents and family for Jeremiah Brown and his wife Elizabeth Mills. According to the 1861 Census, Jeremiah was born in 1811 in Llandinam, according to the 1851 Census he was born in 1807 (by 1841 they seem to have had moved to Tredegar, Monmouthshire, but I haven’t found him on the 1841 census).
I know that he was married on 24 April 1831 at Llandinam Parish Church to Elizabeth Mills spinster of Llandinam (The 1851 census states she was born in Trefeglwys, the 1861 states Llandinam – both say in about 1813). Their oldest 3 children were all baptised at Llandinam. I did find a baptismal record for an Elizabeth Mills on 9 September 1813 in Llanwnnog, but recently I’ve come across a burial record for 12 September 1813 at Llawnnog for what seems the same baby (age given as 0).
I’m in touch with other descendants in Australia and the USA, but to my knowledge they don’t have any more information than me and I’d love to break through this particular stone wall
Many thanks
Hywel
Powys List Activity Stats - March 2014
Dear Listers,
Perhaps I should begin calling them INactivity stats!
In February 2014, only fifteen messages were distributed via the Powys List,
three of which were my own contributions.
This represents the lowest monthly activity since January 1998, when the
Powys List was created.
Currently there are 377 members subscribed to the Powys List, the same
figure as for last month. Curiously, although activity is at an all-time
low, membership of the List is only slightly down on the average membership
for the past decade.
You can check the monthly and annual stats from 1998 to the present on the
Powys List webpage at www.jlb2011.co.uk/powyslist.htm#stats
Kind regards,
John
