Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
I find it quicker to obtain certificates direct from General Records

Have you tried "Wild Wales" by George Borrow. It is an account of his walk
round Wales in 1854 containing useful snippets of information.

I read in Cronicl Powys number 89 (August 2013) about the talk by Liz Pitman
on her book Pigsties and Paradise Lady Diarist and the Tour of Wales 1795 -
1860.
Does anyone have some more details on this book?
Is there any mention of Merionethshire? The area around Bala?
Is there any mention of Montgomeryshire? The area around Hirnant, Pennant,
Llangynog?
Is the book written in a format of region by region?
Regards,
Peter Evans
Interesting Amazon.uk has it and I am sorely tempted, it looks like a good
read.

Hello,
Can anyone help me with finding this burial, please?
Margaret Davies died aged 100 burial Penystrywaid, Mont. Don't know the churches in this area.
Would like to know if she is buried with her husband.
Thank you in advance,
Regards,
Beatrice,
Manchester.
Dear Listers,
I've just added an extra photo and supporting text to the first page of my
Brecon Cathedral feature on 'Images of Wales'. The new paragraphs explain
why the cathedral graveyard contains a tombstone commemorating the death of
a French prisoner of war, who died in Brecon in 1810.
The Brecon Cathedral feature is at:
http://www.jlb2011.co.uk/walespic/archive/021205.htm
While on the topic of 'Images of Wales' I'd like to remind listers of the
existence of this feature on my website.
'Images of Wales' (at http://www.jlb2011.co.uk/walespic/) contains webpages
of original photographs and supporting text illustrating various aspects of
the Welsh scene: history, landscape, architecture, industry, social life,
religion, and genealogy.
Selecting the 'Images of Wales' link above provides you with two options:
1. Webpage Archive
Here you can browse the alphabetical list of well over 200 'Images of Wales'
webpages that have appeared on my website since way back in 1997. Each entry
on the list includes a link to the corresponding original display.
Individual webpages contain an average of eight images, but some of the
special features comprise multiple webpages and well over 30 images: e.g.
Penwyllt (BRE), Llanfynydd (CMN), St Fagans (GLA), 18/19th Century Prints
(Misc), Wales in 1920s & '30s (Misc).
2. Welsh Churches and Chapels Collection
Here you can explore the gradually expanding 'Welsh Chapels and Churches
Collection' and discover the history and architecture of over 300 places of
worship in Wales. I have been developing this feature since 2007.
I hope you enjoy browsing through my collection.
Kind regards,
John

Dear Listers,
I understand that mailing list members with yahoo.co.uk and sky.com
addresses have not been receiving list messages from some of RootsWeb's
mailing lists.
Currently there are eighteen Powys List members with yahoo.co.uk addresses
and three with sky.com addresses. If you are one of these members, please
e-mail me (at john(a)jlb2011.co.uk) to confirm you have received this e-mail.
Please do NOT send your confirmation to the List.
Traffic on the Powys List has been very light recently (only 3 messages
since the beginning of August, and none since 8th August). This may well
have masked the problem seen on more active lists. The problem is being
investigated by RootsWeb.
You can always check the Powys List Archive if you suspect that you are not
receiving messages from the list:

Many thanks,
John

Hello, could sks please locate James Mills b. c.1809 Montgommery.
He relocated with his wife Elizabeth to Liverpool, where he appears on the 1841/51 censuses as a Provisions dealer.
I would dearly like to find who his parents were. Any help appreciated.
