Hello -
I am new to this mailing list, and I would like to ask for some help.
I recently found a will on the NLW website for a Thomas Aubrey of Cathadin dated 1743. In the will, Thomas lists his son, John Aubrey; another person named Margaret Lewis, relationship unknown; and his daughter, Anne Aubrey. Anne is named as sole executor. I am looking for information about the son, John Aubrey, although other information would also be appreciated.
I don’t have access to the parish records for this time period, and I wondered if any one either had access or might also be searching for information about this family. Was Margaret Lewis the wife of John Aubrey, or is there another relationship? Who was Thomas Aubrey married to? Are there baptismal records for his children, John and Anne? Are there death records for any of them? This kind of information might help me eliminate this family from my gene pool, or help confirm that I should keep along these lines.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dear Listers
This is a first time for me so hope I am doing this correctly.
I am researching the names - WEYMAN-JONES / WYMAN /WYMON / JONES.
I have a birth certificate of my gr gr grandfather WILLIAM JONES born 7 FEBRUARY 1858, CLETTERWOOD, WELCHPOOL, MONTGOMERYSHIRE. His mother is MARGARET JONES. The informant is MARY CLOUGH occupier Cletterwood.
I have a marriage certificate of my great grandfather his name shows as WILLIAM WEYMAN-JONES married on 2 June 1879 spouse named LYDIA LOVEGROVE (WHARTON maiden name). WILLIAM WEYMAN-JONES states his father's name as WILLIAM JONES.
It seems obvious to me that a WEYMAN and a JONES married, somehow I need to find that marriage connection.
In the 1851 census I've found MARGARET & ROBERT JONES brother-in-law and sister-in-law to JOSEPH & MARY CLOUGH and living with them in Buttington, Cletterwood. ROBERT is an Agricultural Labourer and MARGARET is Labourer's Wife, so they must be married. They were both 30years old.
A member of my family has given me information received down his line of WEYMAN-JONES' that we are connected to HOPTON CASTLE, our ancestors apparently were born, lived, married and died there and are, I believe buried there. I need to somehow have proof of this for myself. I have checked the Hopton Castle Registers and the relevant names are mentioned right through. With a name like JONES in Wales - like looking for a needle in a haystack.
I am planning a visit to Mid Wales in September this year and feel I've left things a bit late, I don't have accommodation booked and as I have never travelled overseas alone, I dont know where to start. So I better get my act together.
If anyone can relate to the names above I would love to hear from you.
Best Wishes and Good Luck to all of you in your own "Family Search"
Joyce Weyman-Jones
Thank you David, that would be very helpful. I would like to know when my g-g-f John Francis was born, and the names and birth information for any other children born to his parents. Also the birth information for his parents, John and Jane Francis, and the maiden name of Jane - and their death and burial information if that is available. Many thanks - Mike

If you would like to give me details of which members of the family you would like looked up I may be able to help. I and my cousin with a little help from a friend have donated a complete transcription of the parish records to MGS but as yet most have yet to be published. At present it would seem priorities are apparently an issue. Until they are I have been responding to requests for look-ups.

My great-great-grandfather John Francis was born about 1804 on Tyuchaf farm, Tafolwern, Llanbrynmair, to another John Francis and his wife Jane. The farm had apparently been in the family since at least 1744.
Would anyone know whether there are records for the area which might provide birth and death information about the earlier John Francis and his wife, and their other children, and about the previous generation on this farm?
Also, are there burial records available for the Capel Issa burial ground in Llanbrynmair for the late 19th century, and does this burial ground still exist and have surviving headstones?
Many thanks

Dear Listers,
The latest subject to be added to my 'Welsh Churches and Chapels

The parish church of St Mary, adjacent to the ruins of Strata Florida Abbey,
in the county of Cardiganshire.
This webpage includes eight photographs kindly provided by fellow Powys List

Go to www.jlb2011.co.uk/walespic/churches/ and scroll down the index to the
