Could anyone advise me where I might learn more about Little House Colva Radnorshire. My GtGt Grandfather David EVANS lived there with his wife Elizabeth & there 3 children John 4,Elizabeth 2 and Reese 1 according to the 1841 census but I can find no trace of the family on the 1851 census. So I was wondering what alments there may have been arround that time & things like whop owned Little House, is it still there and anything else that I learn about Colva & Little House. They did share it with Ann PORTER 45 a Char Women & her daughter Harriet possibly Elizabeths mother and sister. Any help or info about books to read or sites to visit would be helpful...Regards Di

Hello and Happy Christmas, John,
Thinking of you and all the Powys Listers - hope you are all keeping well.
I'm looking forward to returning to my Welsh research next year - still many
mysteries to re-visit there; could be mid-year before you get my 'subscribe'
email but I will certainly be back.
Can you please pass on my best wishes for Christmas and New Year, to all the
Powys Listers and especially the ones who might remember all the helpful
stuff they shared with Dawn Stanton from Tassie.
Stay well, take care and I look forward to subscribing again, next year.

HI Jill.
I am so sorry not to have replied before. My computer died at the start of
December and by the time I decided what to do next and then get one built
for me, the new computer was not installed and running until last night.
I will take you up on your offer, please, but will not post the attachment
until after the New Year. You won't want that bother over the Christmas
season.
Have a very Happy Christmas,
Hilary

Hilary, a group which I belong to are transcribing wills of our parish. If
the Latin appears at the end of the document - it is usually saying when the
probate was and who the executor was. You may be able to get help over
this from your local record office. If not, you could send me the part if

Hi All,
I was wondering whether any one was able to translate a Latin Sentence Doc
from 1671, which is about a page and a quarter in length.
It is a legal document which is issued as part of the original Will when a
will has been disputed in court.
Just for everyone's interest it concerns Edward Wynter of Llanfihangel Tall
y llyn.
Here's hoping..
All the best,

Wondering if anyone can help. I am wanting to find the maiden name of Elizabeth Thomas married to John Thomas. They farmed and lived at The Lodge, Llanidloes.(..believe it is now called Esgair Maen) in the 1830s and Elizabeth kept farming after her husband had gone, probably died.
Just obtained a marriage certificate for Edward Evans and Jane Ingram 7th of November 1851. Interested to know where or what is Dennallt, Llanidloes as this is where Edward was residing. It says that he is a farmers son and that his fathers name was also Edward. Can anyone help out here.
Hi,
Here are some details of the Evans family:
1851 Census 2496 Folio 276 Page 2 Penyrallt, Llanidloes.
Edward Evans Age 56 Farmer 320 acres Employing 6 labourers.
Ann wife Age 44
Edward son Age 22
Evan Son Age 13.
1861 4245 Folio 80 Page 3. Penrallt, Llanidloes.
Edward Evans 56 Farmer 320 acres. Employing 6 labourers.
Ann Age 55.
Evan son age 23.
The farm is now part of Llanidloes Golf Club.
You can view it in Google Earth - just enter SY18 6JB in the search

Hope this helps.

The list found by Sue is actually for services held on Christmas Day 2009,
and not all were in Welsh, so anyone interested would need to contact one of
the ministers for confirmation of this year's arrangements. Contact details
are at: http://brecon.urc.org.uk - the home page of the Brecon Beacons

I've also received information, sent off list, with other telephone contacts
that may prove helpful.
I've passed on all the information to the original enquirer and suggested
she makes some phone calls.

Dear Listers,
Can you help?
I've received the following request from someone interested in attending a
Welsh chapel service on Christmas Day.
---------------
I am ideally looking for a Welsh speaking chapel that we can attend on
Christmas Day - we have a house in Llangattock but are willing to travel to
Brecon / Valleys where there is a service.
---------------
I'd be grateful for any suggestions that I can relay to the sender of the

Many thanks,

I'm afraid I wouldn't necessarily assume that there ever were any
headstones
- particularly from such relatively early dates (1785-1823). The majority
of people in those days would have been buried in unmarked graves and in
most cases it will now be virtually impossible to locate them within the
churchyard. The dates are presumably based on the registers of burials.

Aidan,
Thanks for your response; not exactly the news I was hoping for but what I
expected.

I'm afraid I wouldn't necessarily assume that there ever were any headstones
- particularly from such relatively early dates (1785-1823). The majority
of people in those days would have been buried in unmarked graves and in
most cases it will now be virtually impossible to locate them within the
churchyard. The dates are presumably based on the registers of burials.
