Thanks Lesley, I enjoy doing them. I hate to have information and not share
it. I have found some interesting bits about my own family and it does give
an insight into life at that time....in some ways not that different to our
own and in other ways very different.

THE TRUCK SYSTEM- Joseph BAILEY, Jun., Esq., has written a letter to Sir B.
HALL denying that in the works of J. and C. BAILEY, the truck system is
practiced. Mr HAMFRAYS? works had been mentioned at the last Usk Sessions as
the single exception in the generality of the usage; but so far from that
being the case, Mr. BAILEY instances those of Mr. Alderman THOMPSON, Mr.

walk. Proper care was taken of him, and he soon recovered his strength. -

Hello,
Early in July, Bryn Ellis listed recently published Memorial Inscriptions.
Checking the the Genfair site I do not find Adfa (MI/61) Is it likely that
it is sold out already?

Go to:

Once more, I'm indebted to Ellie Thomas for providing the fine photographs.
Kind regards,

I think you meant 292200 and 292600, John. This would correspond to
the dwelling / smallholding at grid reference SN920925 on the OS
1:25,000 map, Larry. Move your pointer until you obtain the correct
grid reference at the bottom left of the OS Get-a-map display.

Where was Tynsysarm Trefeglwys on the old maps..is it a Dwelling or area of
Trefeglwys? This may help the Evans family trying to find Evan Evans father

=================
Dear Larry,
As Dick Jones suggested, the name became contracted to Tynsarn in some
records.
This dwelling, in the parish of Trefeglwys, is shown on the 1881 census CD
(published by the LDS). The properties enumerated immediately before and
after Tynsarn were:
Gribyn; Schoolhouse; Penffrydd-Neuadd; Tynsarn itself; Gwernau; Cwm
Llynewynt; Brynmawr
The above census reference is: RG11/5482 Folio 160 Page 4
IA search of my Ordnance Survey 'Explorer' map of this area revealed 'Y
Gribin', Gwernau, and 'Cwm-llymwynt' identified by name.
I then checked the same area on the Old-Maps website and found 'Ty'n-y-sarn'
identified by name on the 1891 6" to 1 mile map. The property is as grid
reference 292200, 262600.
Go to the Old Maps website at http://www.old-maps.co.uk/IndexMapPage2.aspx
On the search page which appears, enter 292200 and 262600 into the
co-ordinates search fields and click the GO button alongside.
When the small map appears, click on the "Enlarge Map" icon on the
right-hand tab. A highly detailed map of the area will open in a new window,
showing Ty'n-y-Sarn and the surrounding area.

Kind regards,
John
