Hi everyone, back to Fletcher,
David and Ann Fletcher had a son, born 2 July 1870, in Bedwellty.
The family is not listed in the 1881 census.
The son, David William Fletcher married Elizabeth Ann Jayne in Brynmawr in
1888.
At some time, the father, David Fletcher married an Elizabeth Watkins.
Hope someone can help, possibly with the 1891 census.
Has anyone else had gaps in the 1881 census? I can't find anything for
Nantyglo,
Varteg, Monmouth, Brynmawr, etc.
Thanks a lot.

Sorry I don't know who I am responding to, but I saw someone asking for help
on Parry in Welshpool. I have a Thomas Parry attorney, m. 1728, d. 1742. I
know how he descended back to approx. 1600 and I know a lot about his
brother, as he is in my direct line. Unfortunately I don't know all that
much about Thomas Parry. I also have an Anne Parry, I don't think she's the
same as yours but may be related somewhere. Also I have LOTS!!!!!! of
Parrys in Australia and one just happens to be a Robert. Hey you never know
this could be what they call a hit.

Sian,
Arthur is "head" of household, although he's obviously also a husband. He
was born in MGY, Kerry Parish, and the census place is Goitre Hall (which
also happens to be in Kerry). It does appear 2 sons are 3 years of age
(twins?), but the youngest is 3 *months* old.

Dear Sian
The ages of 3 for two of the children generally means twins, the last
child is aged 3m(onths).
Actually its Bedwellte, quite a big parish in western Monmouthshire
including Blackwood.

I have an Anne Parry showing in the Powell of Ivy House (Welshpool) pedigree
at about the right time frame. The second son of Samuel Powell of Ivy House,
Welshpool, was Matthew Powell, bank manager, b. 16 Sept. 1848, m. 7 May 1879,
Ellen Elizabeth, daughter of Charles Moiser and Anne, his wife, formerly Anne
Parry. The third son, Edward Powell of Plas-y-Bryn (Newtown), solicitor, is
my ggfather,, and the fourth son, Thomas Powell of Ironbridge, bank manager,
b. 1852, married 16th May 1881 Mary Jane, daughter of Evan Davies Lloyd and
Elizabeth Parry.
For Anne Parry, the reference is to the Parry of Dairy pedigree, and for
Elizabeth Parry, the reference is to the Parry of Leighton pedigree. The
source is the 1886 Montgomeryshire Collections, photocopied and mailed to us
by Marilyn Price, Librarian of the Montgomeryshire Genealogical Society.
Not to worry about the difference between Ann and Anne. The book is not that
accurate on spellings. My g uncle Sydney is in the book as Sidney, my g aunt
Nora is listed as Norah, and my g g mother Eleanor as Helen, but the dates on
everyone matches to other records.
> Robert Parry came to Australia via Melbourne in 1858 I have found a

> on the ship Swiftsure in September 1858.
The eldest son, also called Samuel, b. 2 Mar 1847, emigrated to Australia.
Hi All
Can anyone connect to this Parry line ?
Here is a brief summary of my Parry ancestors - not too much I am afraid once
you get back to Wales.
Evan Parry born about 1782 Flintshire Wales - there are a few possibilities for
his birth on the IGI but nothing I have confirmed.
Evan Parry married Sarah Jarrett at Llanelly, Brecon 17 Aug 1817 - I have a copy
of the parish register record
Robert Parry (my ancestor) was born 1 Oct 1822 Newtown, Montgomeryshire - the
son of Evan and Sarah - I have not found this birth record yet however Robert
has a nicely engraved headstone at Rookwood with the exact date and town on.
Other possible children for Evan and Sarah which I have found on the IGI but not
confirmed are;-
- John baptised 1 Jun 1818 Llanelly, Brecon.
- Evan baptised 26 Nov 1823 Machynlleth, Montgomeryshire
- Ann baptised 8 Nov 1832 Darowen, , Montgomeryshire.
Evan Parry died 19 Dec 1850 in Swansea, Glamorgan (I have this certificate)
His obituary in the minutes of the British Wesleyan Methodist Conference 1851
are perhaps my best record of Evan to date - a brief summary includes;-
- born Flintshire 1782
- Converted at 18 years under the ministry of Rev Edward Jones
- Became a Wesleyan minister in 1806
- 1810 Manchester circuit
- 1834 Newent and Forest of Dean circuit
- Retired to Swansea in 1845
no mention of family however.
The Wesleyan church possibly has more records of Evan, they have quite a
substantial archives and research centre in Manchester which I will
follow up one day- one thing to note is he was English speaking as his circuit
were in English counties as well as Wales.
I believe there was also a connection in Harlech during the late 1800's.
Robert Parry came to Australia via Melbourne in 1858 I have found a Robert Parry
on the ship Swiftsure in September 1858.
Thanks for your time

OH! Thank you! I'd just gotten a clue from 1881 that Anne might have been
older than Arthur, and this age difference confirms that one, so I think both
are referring to the same people.
I deduce from (reading the comma-delimited data as columns)
WILLIAMS Arthur, h, m, 28, Ag lab,
MGY Kerry, Goitre Hall
WILLIAMS Mary, w, m, 30, MGY
Kerry, Goitre Hall
Arthur husband married 28yrs ag labourer, birthplace current
residence
Mary wife married 30yrs ditto
ditto
Then ...
WILLIAMS George, s, u, 3, MON Bedwallte, Goitre Hall
WILLIAMS Thomas, s, u, 3, MGY Kerry, Goitre Hall
WILLIAMS Edward, s, u, 3m, MGY Kerry, Goitre Hall
The 3 boys are Sons and Unmarried ... but surely not all of them are 3 years
of age? Does the 3 mean a coded age range? Such as under 10 or something?
Thank you.
Hmmm. Wonder what took them south to Bedwallte, MON that year. A decree
from Caesar?
