Talysarn is a large village 2 km E of Penygroes, Caernarvonshire.
Tal-y-sarn is a house/farm in Llanllechid, 2km NNW of Bethesda,
Caernarvonshire.
Talysarnau is mis-spelt. It is Talsarnau, Harlech.

Hi,
Where is the Talysarn you mentioned? Is it the same place as Talysarnau,
very close to Harlech? If so, I have written several times to a woman who
lives there and whose parents I had visited there in 1990. However, I don't
think she has e-mail so you would have to write to her by regular mail.

Paul,
My wife Audrey nee THOMAS left Hay in 1947. She remembers the name
Tregoyn in Glasbury as being a large farmhouse but doesn't know who
lived there. Not much help, I'm afraid.

Art

Possibilities include a Butchers, a grocers or an ironmongers shop

I am searching for additional evidence regarding the marriage of Sarah Sayre
and Edmund Howell. Sarah is said to have been born in Wales but I do not
know where. Can anyone provide info abt a Sayre family in the mid 1600s.
EDMUND HOWELL, c. 22 Jan 1633, at Marsh Gibbon, Bucks County, England and d.
1706, Cape May,NJ. He is said to have m(1) Sarah Sayre, who died in 1659,
a daughter of Thomas Sayre, in England and had at least one male child.
Nothing has been found to date to support this first marriage or to support
his having one male child. Emma Ross believed that there was a direct
relationship. He moved to Cape May, NJ about 1668 and m(2) Sarah Judson,
daughter of Joseph Judson of Stratford, CT. Sarah died 29 Aug 1688, leaving
three children. He then married m(3) Katherine Barwick.

Hi Paul
I understand that Gwynedd FHS have a copy of a transcription made by an
Australian woman of Patagonian Welsh Official Registers. Whether they would
be prepared to search this I cannot say.
Try asking Joyce Hinde Gen.Sec. GWYNEDD FHS

I have a large book of Pedigrees of Anglesey nd Caernarvon Families
Unfortunately most entries do not have dates only wives , children and home.
Can you help with dates of families in the Llyn peninsular? Particularly
Parry and Hughes.
Thanks

Hi everyone its me again !
I need some advice on what to do next.
My GGrandmother is a mystery, all I have is
Elizabeth Annie Davies b1882 d 1953
Her marriage cert says she was from Tregoyn - Glasbury.
No parents are listed.
I know she and my GGrandfather were sent to Patagonia when they married
in 1897.
So they won't appear on any census after this time until they returned
in 1907/8
My question is how do I find her birth certificate and anything about
her before they came back to Wales.....
Once again many thanks for the suggestions and tips.
Best wishes
Paul Brooker.

Hi Paul
Are you sure it's Llanstephan, Radnorshire? There is one in
Carmarthenshire.
Geoff Thomas
A strange request. Are there any other lady pensioners like me out
there for whom the Internet has become a valuable addition to their
research? If so, would you be interested in talking to a features
writer on the Times for an article on this subject. Anyone interested,
e-mail me for further details.

Hi Paul,
There's a "Tregoyd" (farm?) about 1.5 miles south-east of Glasbury
village. Half a mile further south-east there's "Tregoyd Common".
The grid reference for Tregoyd is SO 198377
Best wishes,

Fred,
Looking back over last weeks POWYS messages, I found yours.
I too have a John Davis on my interest list. I wonder if he may coincide
with yours... Hope so.
My great great Grandfather was John Davies (b. about 1806). He married
Eleanor Price (b. about 1803) and they lived at The Box cottage above
Llanyre.
They had three children:
Richard (b. 1837 at Tynycwm, Llanyre),
Thomas (b. 31 Jan1840, d. 30 Jul 1902)
and Elizabeth, born 21 Jul 1844 at Tenycwm, Llanyre & died 17 Nov 1914
at Llandrindod Wells .
Richard married Mary Dyke on the 20 April 1870, in Llanyre. He was a
shoemaker and lived at Blaenycwm, where he died in 1901, aged 64.
Thomas married Jane Lloyd (1841 1905).
Elizabeth, my great grandmother, married David George of Llanwrthwl. They
lived at Bridgend cottage in Llanyre and had four children, one of whom
died aged a few months. My grandmother Mildred Eleanor (the youngest)
moved to London where she met her husband and they emigrated to Chile in
1917. She only returned to the UK once, in 1962, where she suffered a
stroke, and I don't believe was able to visit Wales at all. She used to
tell us wonderful stories of her childhood in Llanyre.
>From faraway Chile, I hope this long shot may bring up some coincidence of
interest.
Please let me know.
Sincerely,
Leslie Pollak

BTW, if we do have some family ties, I have a first cousin living in
Calgary shares this side of the family with me.

Hi to All
If any Powys-L subscriber is visiting Wales this year and wants contact
addresses, telephone and fax numbers for a particular Tourist Information
Centre (TIC) in Mid Wales - there is a Web site at:
http://www.mid-wales-tourism.org.uk/
The TICs can send out brochures, accommodation addresses and publicity
material overseas, if requested.
Unfortunately the ones in Powys don't appear to have email addresses
although some on the west coast of Wales (Ceredigion) seem to be blessed
with the technology.
The main Wales Tourist Board Website is:

Hi to All
The GENfair site has just been updated by Mike MacSorley (Powys FHS
Publications Officer). 9 items have been added including the Whole of
Montgomeryshire 1851 Census CD-ROM.
http://www.genfair.com/
Two batches of this CD-ROM have already sold out and Mike has just ordered a
third batch, so if you are thinking of purchasing - now would be a good
time.
It is a very convenient medium for extracting demographic data - eg I have
been extracting all the miners and quarrymen for a future journal article.

Hi Paul
Hope you're not taking FH too seriously! :-)
Llanstephan deposited parish registers are at the National Library of Wales,
Aberystwyth and are on microfilm there and at Powys Archives Office,
Llandrindod Wells.
Registers for Llanstephan are:
Christenings 1813-1981
Marriages 1754-1812, 1814-1970
Burials 1813-1980
Banns 1884-1962
Powys Archives can do a _simple_ check of the microfilm for his baptism but
not extensive research. They don't have enough staff but have a list of
researchers available.
http://archives.powys.gov.uk/
Powys FHS, Radnor Group completed the Memorial Inscription recording for
Llanstephan last year. I am almost certain that it is available now (maybe
fiche or hard copy).
Check our secure server at GENfair site http://www.genfair.com and go to
'Powys FHS' to see if it is there or ask Mike MacSorley, Powys FHS Projects
Co-ordinator and Publications Officer the question direct at:
michaelmacsorley(a)compuserve.com
By the way, have you seen these pictures of Llanstephan Church?

Hi Peter,
Could you advise the current subscription of the Powysland club, and what you get for it?
(or if there is any other member here able to give a quick explanation of the club??). I've seen references, and would like to know more.
Cheers,
Malcolm
