Hi!
I am very familiar with your line of descent but the story you have is a
"new" one to me! Actually, the Stoliker (Stolker, Stalker)family lived in
the Hudson Valley of New York from the early 1700's until after the
Revolutionary War. In about 1795, our Revolutionary "Soldier" John Ambrose
Stolker, moved his wife and eight children from Claverack, New York to
Stanbridge, Quebec near Mississquoi Bay. They lived there for the
remainder
of their lives. His wife was Aseneth Rosena "Sini" Eggleston and preceded
him in death. John died on 25 Aug 1849 and is buried in the Mystic
Cemetery
in Stanbridge. Their youngest son was John Ambrose born on 17 Sept 1797,
and
married Phylinda Crawford in about 1817. This family moved to Gananoque,
ON
in about 1834. They had five sons; Isaac Peter, Silas H., John Ambrose,
James Edward and Joseph Gilbert, and four daughters, one named Malinda.
This
John Ambrose is your ancestor while I descend from his brother, Joseph
Gilbert. They all stayed near Gananoque for many years. You can contact me
directly at ShonHal(a)comcast.net if you want. It's always nice to meet
another Stoliker cousin!
