Thank you for this information on Ira Polley - both excerpts are new
to me.
Do you know where I can get a copy of Guillets book?
Has anyone got it on file that they could send me a copy please?

I noted all the talk on Ira Polly. I just sent Justus Merriam'
story
and in it the Kingston Chronical & Gazette, Dec 29 1838 mentions;
"The
Court Marshall - On Wednesday the following Prisoners, British
sujects, were brought up for trial........Irra Pally, a native of
Jefferson Co, NY.Carpenter, stated he was induced to join the
expedition from the representation of the leaders; that there would be
no opporition, and that two thirds of the people of Upper Canada,
would Join them. He was in the engagment on Tuesday"
Then I have From the life and Times of the Patriots By Edwin C.
Guillet, a prisoner
from the Battle of Windmill "Ira Poiley (Polly)
age 22 from Lyme, Jefferson County.
