Weikle, Wykle etc. but not Weidle.
Her name was Barbara E. Weikle and perhaps she was orphaned since she was
living with her Grandparents by the time she was three in the 1860 census of
Union County.
I can't find the Grandparents (William H. and Martha J. (Goodlander) Moyer)
in the 1850 census even though they had teenage children in the 1860 census
and should have been recorded as a family somewhere.
I can't find them in 1870 when Barbara appears in Martha'sister's family
(Henry and Sarah (Goodlander) Shaulter)in a neighboring county.
To complicate matters, 10 years prior to Barbara's birth there is another
Barbara Weikle who was orphaned in the same county, same township!
I even came to Mifflinburg and did research for a day with their help.
Still Stuck.
Thanks to all of you for your help.
Charlene

Charlene,
Are you sure of the surname WEIKLE or is it possible it was WEIDLE?
Tina
Thank you. My great great Grandmother was born in 1857 and by the
1860 census of Union County was living with her Grandparents. I have never
been about to identify her parents, except that they were Weikle and
Moyer/Mayer so every now and then and I shoot another arrow in the dark. I
would like to know what happened!
