I would recommend ROOTSMAGIC (
www.rootsmagic.com). It is a great program and
easy to use. You can import a FTM Database directly. Currently RM3 is the
current version and RM4 is coming out later this year. IF you get RM3 now, I
believe you will get the upgrade but not sure if it will be free or at a
reduced price.

Subject: [PAGENWEB] Software
What brand of software do list members use? I just purchased a new
computer, attempted to transfer my old Family Tree Maker files to the new
machine and I am told that I have to upgrade to read my old files. I am not
happy at having to purchase new software just to read an old file.
Currently I have FTM 2005 and am running vista and yes I have installed the
vista update.
My point is that if I have to purchase new software I might as well see if
there is something better available. I do know that I have over 2000
individuals on my FTM file and if I cannot open/read it I will be a little
miffed.
If you use software and would recommend what you use I would appreciate
your input.
Thanks
