Replying to the question of what genealogy program to have.
Unfortunately
the man had installed Vista and discovered he could not use the genealogy
program he had. Now that Microsoft is throwing in the sponge on Vista, it
must be particularly galling to have lost the use of your program.
I installed a later version of Family Tree Maker, decided that had been a
mistake and reverted to my older version. The main hit on FTM however, is
that it has a cumbersome method for recording your sources and did not
demand that you do so when you entered new data, so it was too easy to
input
a bunch of stuff without recording sources.
