Subject: [PAGENWEB] Apprenticeship Records
Listers,
>From the limited number of responses I received regarding my recent query
about apprenticeship records availability for Bucks & Philadelphia County,
I am assuming that no one has had a great deal of experience researching
this type of record for the stated region. I am concluding therefore, from
the information that a few Lister have graciously provided, most
apprenticeship contracts were either never registered publicly; or for the
few that were, they are probably interspersed with other misc. court
records, and therefore promise to be difficult to find, since enforcement
of registration was lacking and no recommended process was generally known
by the citizenry. If anyone else has information refuting my assumptions,
please e-mail me directly. As previously stated, I was interested in
searching for contracts for stone mason apprentices during the period
1824-1865 in Bucks and Philadelphia Counties. Thanks to those folks who
tried to help me with this matter over the last few days. Your generosity
is greatly appreciated.
Howard
