Salli,
Re: PDF Question.
The PDF, Portable Document Format, has control settings that you can adjust the
area you want printed. If someone types something in a word processor (or other
program) with particular fonts and settings, another persons computer may not
have the same programs, fonts, or settings. If you format something with a font
and the person you want to send it to, does not have the same fonts, your beautiful
formatting will change to their default font. So they won't see your beautiful
creation
as you do. The pdf format alleviates this by locking the page as you created it and
anyone with a 'pdf reader' can view it just as you created it.
When you press print, check out your settings. Depending on your printer
software, you should be able to adjust the settings to fit the pdf to your liking.
Some pages you receive could be 'larger' than a standard 8.5 x 11 page,
so the printer can 'shrink' the document to fit a 8.5. x 11 page. This obviously
will make the text smaller! Try choosing the 'fit to page' setting to expand the
page to enlarge smaller documents. There is also the 'scaling' format. This is
when you have 'zoomed' into a particular portion of the document so you can see
it better - you can also print just the section you see. This is very good for things
like obituaries and newspaper print. Again, it depends on your printer software
regarding the settings and how they have these items labeled.
Another thing that used to drive me mad, mirror image. If you get a
page that prints so you have to read it in a mirror - find that and turn it off.
You also may have to re-adjust your printer setting when you go to print something
else.
You can e-mail me directly if you need any help.
Good luck hope this helps. - Lori
