I have been able to track this family from 1910 -1930 census I have had no
luck locating them on the 1900 census. I am hoping for any information on this
family.
1910 PA Census Brittin Joseph age 49 ward 35 T624 Roll 1404 part 1 Elberon
Ave.
Found Brittin on Pine Road interesting enough wedged between Pine Road and
Elberon Ave on both sides.
Jos P Brittin age 49 married 25 years wife Mary age 50 born about 1859 or1860
and lists both her parents ad being born in Germany. which could make her
Mary Dittus.
Also included is the 1910 census which listed Brittin children as Mabel V,
William E ,and Joseph E. , Mary’s husband, Joseph P. is listed as a box
maker in a mill. Mabel V worked as a clerk in "sample house. " William E was a
metal worker in "dental supplies". The last entry appears to be the eldest
child, Elizabeth age 25 <1885>. Elizabeth Brittin Shields is listed as being
married for 7 years <1903> she has no occupation listed. She is listed as giving
birth to one child who did not live. I am in hopes of locating relatives of
Elizabeth to help put the pieces of our family history together.
Mary <50> and Joseph <47> married for 25 years. Mary E Dittus would have
been age 25 when she married <1885>. In 1920 the Brittins are living at 8243
Pine Road in Fox Chase with their sons, William E age 29 <1891> a school janitor
and Joseph C age 25 <1895> Pattiner Veal ??? shop
1930 Mary was 70 years old. I have not been able to determine whe she died
but she served as informant in 1942 for her sister Rebecca Dittus Rittenhouse
death cert. Mary was living on 8122 Elberon Ave at that time
