Subject: [PAGenWeb] Orphanage records
Does anyone know where the records of CHURCH HOME & ORPHANAGE,
Jonestown
Borough, Lebanon Co, PA can be found or
if they even exist anymore.
On page 1 of a list of names -- #11 is Berta V. female, born Sep 1885,
Pa. Last name was indicisive. On page 2, it said that this surname was
very hard to read due to quality of original documents. Could have been
Whitan, Klutan, possibly Whitman or Rhitan.
I would like to find the records to see if it could possibly be BERTHA
VIOLA WOODS WHITMAN. She, along with 2 sisters, were orphans
of the Johnstown Flood, Cambria Co. They cannot be located until
1910 census at which time Bertha was married to Winfield Whitman
(his name possibly Whitemar/Whitemare/Whitemore)
About 1905 Bertha was married to Winfield Whitman (etc). They were
on 1910 Kiefer, Creek, OK census with 3 children. Marriage record
has never been found.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Betty
