Verna,
You need to look for a Will and Estate Papers for a McCRAY who died
before the 1850 Census. Using Polly as a guide, and the ages of the
last child, I would look for those papers during that timeframe. Also,
using the religion as a guide, I would write to those churches and ask
if the children were married in the church. Good Luck. meg

I am researching one of the McCray families in PA. I have 3 obits of family memebers
stating they were born and married in Concord, Erie Co. PA, but I haven't had any
success with finding any information from that area. I am hoping someone on the list will
be able to help me find a direction.
On the 1850 census of Concord township, Erie Co. PA, there is listed POLLY MCCRAY 59
years, PERRY MCCRAY 25 years, and JOSEPHINE GREENE 2/12.
On the 1860 census of Concord township, Erie Co. PA, there is listed PERRY MCCRAY 36
years, and HANNAH LADUE MCCRAY 27 years.
In 1870, I find them on the census, Town of Little Falls, Monroe Co. WI.
Perry and Hannah had 3 children, Emma and Hasson, born in Concord, Erie Co. PA, and the
third was born somewhere in WI.
My information is taken from census records, and obituaries. What I am trying to find is
the parents of PERRY MCCRAY, from the census of 1850 it looks like Polly could be his
mother, but I haven't been able to come up with anything.
I also have the book "McCray's of America" second edition on interlibrary
loan, but haven't found anything in it to help me out.
Maybe someone on this list has come across this McCray family or may be researching it
also. Thank you for any help.
