Hi all!
I'm new to the list and I need help!
I don't know if anyone wants to help take in this project, but I would really
appreciate it. My family and I are planning a trip to Lycoming and Columbia County area
to work on some research. I have some information that I am trying to verify before our
trip in May. I am looking for Emily (Tennyson) Fitzgerald. She was born around 1821 in
Ireland or England and died around 1861 in Pensylvania (Bloomsburg probably) from
complications after childbirth. I have a lead that says that she may be buried in the
catholic section of a cemetery. I know this isn't much to go on for Emily, but this
is what I have.
I was told the family lived in Bloomsburg, Williamsport and in Bellefonte and used Union
Cemetery. Finding Emily would give me a HUGE piece to a brickwall ancestor that I have
been banging my head against for many years.
Her son William Fitzgerald is the one buried in Union Cemetery in Bellefonte, PA.
William's son, Elmer who died when he was 5 and his daughter Ida who never married
are buried in Wildwood Cemetery in Williamsport. William was born July 4, 1840 and died
June 11, 1921. Elmer was born in Sept 1864 and died June 12, 1870. Ida was born Jul
1868 and died Nov 27,1870.
Emily was married to a man named John Fitzgerald, who I was told, joined the army after
Emily's death.
There is another son, James who was born May 18, 1858 and died Sept 26, 1933. According
to the death notice I have from the newspaper, he died in Lewisburg (I even have the
address) and was buried in Chestnut Hills Cemetery in Winfield. James' wife Susan is
buried in Milton Catholic Cemetery. She was born Feb 22, 1855 and died Jan 13, 1913.
My main goal is to verify this information and get more precise locations in the cemetery
so that I may visit the graves. Anything though that anyone could tell me about my family
would be wonderful. I really am looking forward to my trip in May.
Thanks,
Alanna
