The short story:
Three LANTZ brothers from Speyer, Bavaria - and later seen as LANTS and more
recent as LANCE people came to Philadelphia Oct of 1738. Shortly there after
they moved upriver to Walnut Valley NJ between Blairstown and Hainesburg.
By, and likely befor, 1870 or so at least some of the family had moved West
across the river from Walnut Valley, NJ to the Scranton - Clarks Green -
Nicholson areas.
I've traced marriages to BROWN, STAGE, CAREY, DECKER and SICKLER. Still much
to learn and records are hard to find.
Scharlet Brown b 1835 and died leaving many children circa 1865 to 1870
married William Lance b abt 1820 died unknown time and place though he was in
the Scranton area 1871- could be seen as LANTS or LANTZ.
William's eldest son, ANTHONY LANCE b 1852 Blairstown, NJ d 1931 Nichlson, PA
married Emma E. DECKER. The divorced in 1897 - this one has been a real
problem because no further information appears for EMMA after the divorce.
NUTS!!
ANTHONY remarried about 1898 to PERMELIA CAREY who died 1933 of cancer. It
appears she lived in Nicholson after his death and one daughter is listed in
PERMELIA's obit as married into the QUINN family. No idea who these folks are
either.
Most of the LANCE folks in Clarks Green Cemetery are my kin but here too I've
not been able to find living relations.
I also have LANCE people in Shady Lane - just my luck..not much there either
on records.
I am at present without knowldege of a living LANCE relation though I am sure
some must exist in PA somewhere.
I have several photos circa 1856 to likely 1880 of people I think are my
LANCE kin but so far unable to identify any of these people.
Any help very much appreciated from anyone who might know of my people.
Thanks to all.
