Subject: Charles B. Newton
Hello,
I am researching Charles B. Newton b. abt. 1822 in PA. Charles
joined the army in 1844 and participated in the Mexican-American war
1846-1848. He mustered out in 1849 and married Maria Rosa delos Reyes
Cortes in 1852. He lived for a while in New Mexico and then settled in
Costilla county Colorado. He died in 1905 in Alamosa, Colorado.
According to census and military records, he was born in PA, but I
have been unable to find any documents stating who his parents were. I
did find a family tree at rootsweb with a Charles Beatty Newton b.
same time in Bucks county, PA with parents listed as Jonas Newton and
Sarah Vanderveer. I would very much appreciate any tips, clues, or
information from anyone that may know something about my Charles B.
Newton.
Thank you,
Tonya Newton
