Pam,
Many of us face this very type of problem. But this is what I would do. Using
the 1790 and 1800 and 1810 Census' for PA I would look for all
"Howard's". From
there I would order the LDS film for the "Orphan Court Records" for the various
counties that you find them in. I would look to see if any of the men died with
minor aged children. If he died they would be listed. The other option is to
look for a Will in those counties that you find them in. And lastly are the Deed
Records. Sometimes, you will only find your answer in the deeds - if you have
never worked deeds before you will be amazed at the amount of genealogy that is
found in some of them and/or by using a combination of several of them, the story
that it will tell you about your ancestors. Good luck. meg

I am looking for the father of Barnabas HOWARD who was born 9 October
1791 in
Pennsylvania. His mother's name was Mary-maiden name unknown. The
father-first name unknown- died before 1828. Barnabas had a brother James
born about 1792. It is said that these HOWARD's had a grandfather who came to
the USA and settled in Pennsylvania from London, England. The son was born in
PA and married Mary who was born 1770-1775. When this son died, Mary took the
children to Wentworth, Ontario, Canada.
Thank you for any and all help. Pam
