My husband's ancestor is Andrew Addleman, brother of your Joseph Addleman.

". . . He [John Michael Addleman] worked at the shoemaker's trade in
Philadelphia until the debt was paid, after which he engaged in agricultural
pursuits in Chester county, Pennsylvania, throughout the remaineder of his
life. Hise second son, JOSEPH ADDLEMAN, was the grandfather of our subject.
He married SARAH PIERCE and to them were born ten children. In 1826 his sons,
JOHN M., and CALEB, accompanied by their sister ORPHA, came to Wayne county,
Indiana, and in 1828 the father brought the remainder of the family. He
located in Franklin township, where he spent the residue of his life,
devoting his energies to the work of the farm. He was a large, robust man,
and was almost ninety years of age at the time of his death. . . ."1
". . .JOSEPH settled in what is known as the Addleman farm in Franklin
Township. which is now owned by our subject. Here he passed the remainder of
his days. His son JOHN M. settled one and a half miles northwest of
Whitewater where he lived until 1856 when he removed to the village of
Whitewater where he died, aged eighty-three years. . . . .WILLIAM, the
youngest son of JOSEPH ADDLEMAN, was elected to the Legislature from Wayne
County, Ind."2
