Hello Warren,
I saw your reference to Elizabeth Yost b 1775 PA. I have two brothers (Nathaniel
Yost b 1792 m Elizabeth ?? & John Yost b 1797 m Maria Von Steuben) who are my
"Brick Wall". My father believed that Joseph Yost might be their father but
since my father's death, I have not found any proof of that (it's probably here
somewhere in his papers where I'm still looking).
Do you have any information on your Elizabeth's brothers? (It apears she would be
a generation older than my John & Nathaniel.) Any clues you may have that would point
me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Coleen, I know what you are going thru. For 25 years I was searching for parents and
siblings of Abraham Artley born in Reading, Berks co., PA. He married Elizabeth Weise in
1822 and the had one son, Daniel, born in 1824. Recently I heard from a fellow
researcher, Drew, that Jacob Artley, a relative in my database was born and baptized in
Reading, Berks co., PA in 1764, married Elizabeth Yost, born 1775, according to info on
Jacob they had several children but no record of any. Since there were no other Artleys
listed in Berks Co. I am believing Abraham was one of their children. I still have no
proof but feel positive that this is the link. I have several Abrahams in my database, so
it was a common name in the Artley family, in fact Jacob had a brother Abraham.
My concern, you have listed 13 children, these would not all be children of a 44 year old
man being married for the first time, he must have been married earlier, and had children
from his first marriage, or would Catherine have been married before and some of these
were from her first marriage, and took his name.
Brick walls are hard to crack.
My suggestion check with sources in Allegheny Co, church records, census records, land
records, etc. I also have found info when I enter my name in Google or Yahoo, and of
course Roots Web and
FamilySearch.org.
I wish you luck.
Warren
