No I do not think so. William born in Ohio 1825 lived in Clinton Iowa from
the time he married in 1857 to abt 1877-1878. William and Louisa have a son
Eddy born in Clinton Iowa 1877 and then per the moraltality schedule for
1880 Louisa dies from confinement in Dec 1879 in Cedar Smith Kansas. Per the
census for 1880 William is a widower with the following children living with
him there in Kansas:
1. Leonard b. February 26,1861
2. John b. abt 1862
3. George b. abt 1866
4. Charles b. abt 1868
5. Sarah b. abt 1869
6. Marlin b. abt 1873
7. Rosa b. abt 1874
8. Eddy b. Aug 1877
After 1880 I do not find William any more, I do find a few of the children
still in Kansas in the 1900 census. Leonard married in Kansas to Olive
Thayer 1878 and she died the next year and he went into Oklahoma abt
1891-1893.
When Louisa died from childbirth in Dec 1879, on the 1880 census there is a
female child listed as DL McLaughlin living with Samuel & Elizabeth Meyers
in Cedar Smith Kansas, not with William and the other children. In the 1900
census there is a Daisy L. McLaughlin with her brother and his wife in Cedar
Smith Kansas. The brother listed is Wilson McLaughlin, 2nd oldest child of
William and Louisa.
I have not found anything to indicate that William ever made it to Virginia.
I do know that the Louisa's parents (John Dunlap and Sarah Shields) and her
youngest brother (John Dunlap) were also in Cedar Smith Kansas in 1880. I do
know that this explanation is quite lengthy, but maybe someone will
recognize the information. Also I gave the wrong marriage date for William
and Louisa, it was 1854, not 1857.
Thanks for any assistance.
Sharon

Subject: Re: [PAGenWeb] Looking for William McLaughlin
In the books, Marriage and Death Notices of Wheeling Western Virginia and
the Tri State Area, I have the following names ... Keziah Dunlap, Mary
Dunlap
and William Dunlap (1818-1857); and Hettie McLaughlin (1858-1865). Do
you
think any of these people could be yours?
Would be glad to send you what information is listed.
