Hello ; This is an item I found from the Penn.
Gazette - Mar. 22, 1775 -- excerpt , sale of two
tracts of land of CHRISTIAN EDEL, deceased - situate
in twp. of Cheltenham, abt. two miles from
Webbtavern, in Abington, and at the junction of the
Whitemarsh and Oxford Church roads, and on the
westerly side of the Limekiln road, two tracts or
pieces of land with the appurtenances, one
containing 16 1/2 acres, the other containing 12
acres , late the estate of a certain CHRISTIAN EDEL,
the elder, deceased, seized and taken in execution
by William Dewees, Sheriff ...... This CHRISTIAN
EDEL died Oct. 1769, his will proved 1771 ; in his
will he left his estate to his wife CATHARINE, his
son MATTHIAS, and daughter ELIZABETH, and the baby
his wife was pregnant with, a son born Jan. 1770
by name of JOHANN ( JOHN ) EDEL....... A Killian
White was a witness to his will....... I would
love to hear from anyone with knowledge abt. these
EDELs, also with knowledge abt. exactly whe!
re the land was located, I have looked at old maps
and see it appears to be west of Phila. - Germantown
area, but not sure exactly where and how located.
maybe someone with knowledge of old maps can clue me
in...... this appears to be my ancestor....
Thanks, Sally Edell Dutton
