Give this a try
http://www.rootsweb.com/~paberks/library/church/ListOfChurchesPart2.html
They appear to be different churches <VBG> but no guarantee
this below link is to a postcard of the church Oley Reformed
http://www.cardcow.com/72536/the-oley-reformed-church-erected-in-1822-ole...
Meantime google for the others and perhaps you will find pictures of
them as well.

Hi,
The information on Harry & Merci Hill came from a lister of the Kent
list and when I searched the public members on ancestry.com I couldn't
find it. I believe it was listed as Desiree's Tree if that is any help.
I don't think the Harry and Mary Emma PAFF is the right one though
because they are not from PA and M E Cadwallader certainly was born in
PA and mostly lived in Philadelphia as far as I can tell.

Hello,
Below is listed some other possibilities. I have a membership at
Ancestry.com. If you send to me the url address of the page where you
found the
information on Harry and Merci HILL I will see if I can contact the
submitter
and try to have that person contact you.
This is another listing of Harry and a Mary Emma PAFF with the email
address
of the submitter.

I suggest that you might try going to the message board section of
RootsWeb.com and post an inquiry re: Harry. Be sure to list his
approximate birth
date and place in the subject line.

To JMYHOGAN - thank you for the LDS information - a pity it doesn't give
an actual birth date for Harry or a spouse!
I would also like to express my thanks to those others from the list who
have taken the time to write to me with suggestions about my CADWALLADER
research.
It seems that to establish Mercy/Mary E Cadwallader's maiden name I
would need to find a marriage record. I believe that the Harry
CADWALLADER that M E married was the son of William Rutherford
CADWALLADER and may have been born in Doylestown or in a township near
there. Various records suggests that Mercy/Mary E was also born in
Pennsylvania but it is not clear exactly where.
Are there parish records for this area that can be accessed to look for
Harry's birth/baptism record? Also are there any transcriptions of
marriages?
One possibility I am trying to track is that Mercy/Mary E was the
daughter (possibly illegitimate) of Annie E HILL and that Annie
subsequently married a Thomas BATLEY. In the 1890's a Thomas BATLEY &
his wife Annie deeded 1413 Somerset Street Philadelphia to Mary E
Cadwallader wife of Harry and in 1916 Harry Cadwallader and Mary E his
wife deeded the property to Harry Cadwallader Jnr. It appears that he
then acted as a trustee and there was a deed on the property back to
Mary E Cadwallader just one month later. In 1936 this property formed
part of the estate of M E Cadwallader deceased and it went to Harry Jnr.
Can anyone help me with some census records?

Audrey,
The only Geller I have listed is a Christopher and he is from Philadelphia

Could Geller be spelled differently?

Laney-would you be so kind as to search your records for Wilhelmina C. Hilzinger nee Dierolf. She is my great great grandmother and was born in Berks Co, I believe. in late March or early April of 1830.
I really appreciate your help.

Nell,
Sorry my CD doesn't cover Northampton county.
But since he has an unusual first name I did check the listings for the
other counties, but there is nothing.
Sorry I couldn't help.

Laney, On your CD do you have any record of Abraham or Abram Artley or Erdley? He was born in 1800 in Reading, Berks Co., PA. From your notes, his first name could have been John, Johann, Henry, or Heinrich as those were earlier first names of my ancestors from Germany and early PA records. I think he would have been baptized in the Lutheran church in Reading. I have a feeling that he was son of Jacob Artley or Erdley and mother's maiden name Esther Yost. I have no definite proof as to Abraham parents but am hoping a baptismal record might show positive parents names. The only ancestor living in the Reading area I have found was Jacob.
I agree with your statement regarding middle names as most of my ancestors used their middle names, as I do, but for me I was not a Junior and since my father went by Forrest, I went by F. Warren Artley. I have traced my ancestors back to 1675 in Germany to a Johann Heinrich Erdle, whose son went by his middle name of Henry Artley, Americanized spelling.
Thank you for any help you can give me.

Janet,
It was a custom with German's to give their children 2 names, and then they
went by the middle name. For example your George Schall was actually John
George, and if he had any brothers their first name would also be John. So I
am willing to bet that your Elizabeth given name was Catherine Elizabeth and
she went by Elizabeth.
Also many were named for their sponsors. For the birth of your Catherine
Elisabetha the sponsors were Georg Kuntz and Elisa Margretha.
I have the sponsors for the other births if you are interested.
Also anyone out that would like a look up I have a CD of church records
1600-1800, of Berks, Bucks, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Phildelphia, and
York Counties.

Hi Laney,
I've wondered if that weren't the case with the two girls being the same
person. It seems likely especially since there seems to be only one birth date
for the two girls.
I would love to have the sponsors for the children.
Janet

Laney, if you would not mind, would you look up in Zion Lutheran Church,
Northampton County, PA 1748-1767 the name of Debolt Beck or Devault Beck or
Devold Beck and wife Catherine and their children Jacob, Philip,
Moserine/Margaret, John and George?
Thank you.

I need to obtain a copy of a naturalization record from 1907 in PA. I've
searched various PA Vital Records links (state and county level depts.) and
can't find any mention of where to write for these records. The person was
living in Clearfield Co. (Morrisdale Township) in 1907.
Side Question: If anyone has requested this type of record from PA, does it
include the individual's parents' names?
Thanks!
Sara
Hi everyone,
My name is Lis and I have just joined the list. I live in South
Australia and have been researching family history for about 8 years but
all have been in the UK, India or Australia so I am lacking in knowledge
about American research and am hoping people on this list can help me
with advice or assistance in finding information on Mercy (Mary?) E
CADWALLADER nee ?, who was possibly born 3 Sep 1868 in Pennsylvania. I
am trying to find out who Mercy was, her parents, which Harry
CADWALLADER she married and when she died and where buried. Mercy was
involved in the early Spiritualist Movement in America. This is what I
do know so far:
In 1893 Mrs E Cadwallader was among the delegates listed at the First
National Delegate Convention at Chicago and was recorded as residing at
1413 Somerset Street Philadelphia PA. In subsequent entries (1894
through to1898) her address was either Somerset Street or just Box 446
Philadelphia PA and she was variously listed as Mary E, Mercy E or just
M E Cadwallader. In 1899 J R Francis founded the 'Progressive Thinker'
(the officialSpiritualist publication of the Philadelphia Spiritualist
Societies) and M E Cadwallader was Editor and Publisher of this until
after the death of Francis in 1910 when she took it over.
In 1900 a possible M E Cadwallader was found (by a helpful person from
the Kent list) at 1242 N. 2nd Street Philadelphia PA b. Sep 1868
Occupation Publisher with husband (of 8 years) Harry Cadwallader b.
March 1858 Occupation Publisher owns Farm & House with a boarder
Benjamin B Hill born June 1830 Occupation Manufacturer. There is a
Public Member listing on Ancestry which suggests that Harry CADWALLADER
born 1854 Doylestown married Merci E HILL but I don't know how accurate
that is and am not able to contact the submitter.
Mercy (Mary) E made quite a few trips to England as a Spiritualist
speaker and shipping records variously show her as M E Cadwallader
(1899), Marcy E (1910), M E (1913), Mercy E (1922), Mercy E (1925),
Mercy E (1925) & Marcy (1931). Most of the shipping records show her
birth as Sep 3 1868, one gives it as Sep 1864.
In 1920 census Mercy is recorded as a Widow 52 years old, journalist and
a lodger in a boarding house in Chicago owned by Charles Burgess,
another influential Spiritualist and friend of M E Cadwallader. The
'Progressive Thinker' was published in Chicago and apparently M E
Cadwallader travelled there also on a regular basis though her home was
in Philadelphia. The Harry CADWALLADER Mercy married may have been Harry
b. June 14 1854 who was son of William Rutherford CADWALLADER however it
is also possible that he is the son of Benjamin CADWALLADER who was
William R's brother. Both came from Doylestown Bucks County PA.
How do I access a marriage for M E and Harry CADWALLADER? If the 1900
census is correct the marriage would have taken place about 1891/1892
and probably in Philadelphia I think. Any suggestions for tracking this
woman will be most gratefully received.
Regards,
Lis Warwood
