I agree that PA GenWeb is not the place for politics. If all of us post all
of our political opinions then soon it will be useless for genealogy. Who wants
to read all of some Twits political stuff just to see if the mail is about a
valid research question.

A Marine squad was moving north of Basra when they came upon an insurgent badly injured and unconscious. Nearby, on the opposite side of the road, was an American Marine in similar but less serious state.
The Marine was conscious and alert and as first aid was given to both men, the Marine was asked what had happened. The Marine reported, "I was armed and moving north along the highway and coming south was a heavily
armed insurgent. Seeing each other, we both took cover in the ditches alongside the road.
I yelled to him that Saddam Hussein was a miserable lowlife camels ass. He yelled back that Senator Ted Kennedy is a fat, good-for-nothing, leftwing liberal drunk.

Hello - Seeking the parentage of my GrGrandfather HENRY H. EDEL-EDELL, he was b. abt. 1829-30 Phila. it appears, he lived in So. Philly near Wharton St., he married a MARGARET ANN PENNINGTON 1865 while he was a Soldier in the 2 Penn. Hvy Artil., 5 children.... HENRY died 1877. I have had the Hist. Society conduct research, also I have gone over numerous films for B M D at my FHC..also numerous Church records and City Directories ........ the 1850 Census seems to show him age 20 ( name spelled EDAL ) with ANN, who might be his mother, also another ANN maybe a female relative..... there are not many EDEL in Phila., but so far I have been unable to connect my HENRY to a father .... I do know another family of Matthias Edel and Phoebe Bakeoven are not his, they also had a Henry... and I suspect they are related , but I don't know how..... could they be descended from CHRISTIAN EDEL who died 1769 ?? I would sure appreciate any suggestions!
and help on this, it has been a brick-wall for far too long and I seem to have exhausted every avenue of research....... Thank you, Sally Edell Dutton
Nancy, Thank you for the information, but I already have the info from the 1880 census. Am looking for parents and siblings of Abraham Artley 1800-1862. The Abraham listed in the 1830 census was a different Abraham, he was born 1800 and died 1880. The Abraham 1800-1862, I am looking for, had only one son Daniel, born 1824, who would have been 6 in 1830. In fact I think I have at least 6 Abrahams in my data base.
The is quite a bit written about Daniel, he was a carpenter for the Pennsylvania Railroad as shown in 1880 census.

Hi, I have been searching for the parents and or siblings of Abraham
Artley, born 1800, Reading, Berks Co., Pa, married to Elizabeth Wease
in 1822, one son Daniel Wease Artley, born 1824. Abraham died in
1862. For a period of time they lived in Lycoming Co., PA.
Have found listing for Abraham and Elizabeth on familysearch.org but
no record of parents or son.
I have almost a complete listing of the dependants of Daniel to date.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank You.

I just joined this list today, so hopefully my response won't be out of line.
I discovered on my 57th birthday this year, my grandfather's
orphanage records. What made it possible was finding him and his
sisters listed in the census, which then gave me the name of the
orphanage. Since you know the orphanage, I'm wondering if Bertha
might show up in the 1900 census. Apologies if you've already tried
that, but I wasn't clear from your message whether you had.
Best of luck, and happy holidays.
