Hi Bob,
Do you use GenConnect for your queries or do you post them manually to a
webpage in your account?
If you are using GenConnect for your queries and someone has gotten your
password - you should contact Pam Durstock at durp(a)one.net and let her know
about it. It is important that whatever password you set for your county
board = that it be difficult to crack into. You should always set it to be
mixed case with atleast 1 special character in it.
This is not the first time that I have heard about hackers getting into
accounts -- you didn't mention if your account was on RootsWeb. If so, then
you should contact Brian Leverich, leverich(a)rootsweb.com, and let him know
that someone has gotten into your account and have them reset your password.
However, if you are using another ISP for your pages - then definitely
contact your technical support people regarding this matter.
All in all, the best way to keep folks out is to change your password
regularly. It is a comfortable habit to keep your password simple so that
you can remember it -- heck, I have so many sites....I always forget which
is which. But really, there are alot of folks out there with too much time
on their hands and who generally like to mess with other peoples websites.
Good luck!
