Billie, the message you forwarded concerning the sp reps was about me
and me only, since I'm the only special projects coordinator on *any*
ballot.
Let me announce here, also, because I've stated it elsewhere.. that if I
am elected national coordinator, I will not qualify to be the board rep
for the Archives... and if I am not elected, I still won't qualify
because I will not accept a nomination from the Archives volunteers to
serve on the board. I've been on the board for a year.. I see what goes
on and I see how the board is attacked by those that either don't get
their way, have a vendetta/grudge, and I personally would prefer not to
serve on the Board at all next year.
I have not withdrawn from the national coordinator ballot, but I
honestly hope Tim Pierce is elected. If I am elected, I will serve,
because I love this Project and since I've been involved in it from the
beginning, I've seen many types of takeover attempts. That's why I threw
my hat in the ring, because of the recent happenings. There's been
another attempt, as recent as July 14, to takeover the
usgenweb.com
domain by the incorporator of USGenWeb, Inc. It failed, thank Goodness!
There have been rumors that if I'm elected national coordinator, several
states will leave the project, including KSGenWeb, KYGenWeb, and
IDGenWeb. Does that tell you something?? If I lose the election, I will
not leave the project... I believe in it too much. I believe it's the
best genealogical site on the Internet, and hopefully I can resign one
of these days and use it for my own research. But.. I will NOT leave it
in the hands of people that want to use it to line their own pockets, if
I can prevent it in anyway. Sure.. that's why I'm being attacked so
vicously in several areas.. because I'm a roadblock to them.
I'm really tired of the attempts to control this project. The current
board has put in place a process to get the management into the hands of
the volunteers. ALL of the current board are honest, hard working, and
believe in this project so much, they have spent hours and hours to get
this process going. NONE of the current board members have any
genealogical business or profit-oriented project that could benefit from
The USGenWeb Project. I'm not saying a genealogical-business person
wouldn't be fair and impartial, but the accusations about the current
board trying to control the project is absurd! For what???
<sigh>

I thought this was a very good summation of one of the problems we've got
with the current vote.
If you haven't voted yet, please do. You may not be interested, but we're
apparently stuck with this unless we pull out of the USGenWeb project. So,
please VOTE. I strongly recommend that you vote NO to the by-laws. I
can't persuade you how to cast your votes for individuals, but I will say I
stand behind our own Nate Zipfel with absolute faith in him.
If you've already voted, you can still change your vote.
