Hi -
Just a reminder: RootsWeb will provide state and county research
mailing lists to any SCs and CCs who would like to own them.
Lists can be requested by using the Web form at:
http://www.rootsweb.com/rootsweb/members/listrequest.html
The message about being a RootsWeb Sponsor doesn't apply in this
case, and RootsWeb will host lists for states and counties who use
other Web servers as well as RootsWeb's.
State and county coordinators should look at the way other states
and county lists are named (
http://www.rootsweb.com/~maillist/ ),
and name their lists accordingly. Later on that will help us
integrate the lists into their Websites with some neat whizziness.
I'd encourage SCs to encourage their CCs to host lists: other sites
are beginning to offer county lists now, and CCs who don't start
lists soon may have a harder time building up a readership if they
ever do decide to host lists in the future.
So who says I'm not biased towards USGenWeb? I'd like to see the
state and county research lists be a USGenWeb feature and not
somebody else's. Cheers, B.
