Hi Sara,
You need to reset your end file's permission status. The fastest way to do
this is through WS_FTP (if you are using this for uploads) or another GOOD
FTP program. If you don't use this software then you need to contact
RootsWeb sys admin and have them change the file -- don't expect it to be
done right away -- file permission is a low priority for them. It is better
if you can do it yourself.
Using WS-FTP: Launch the program when you are online. Go to the right
directory where your file is located. Highlight the file on the server side
by clicking on it once then right click your mouse button -- you will see a
bunch of different commands listed -- at the very bottom is one called
CHMODE (in Unix this means Change Mode). Click on change mode and a box
pops up that has a series of little click boxes - some will be checked.
Owner (that's you) read, write, and excutable
Group (that's used when the sys admin creates a set of users - like all
marketing employees in a company)
Everyone (this is the key -- that is everyone on the net).
I click all three to be read and writeable. Executable is used only for
program files.
That is it. Your file is now writeable by the mailmerge program. Each time
you edit your end file you need to check it's mode -- sometimes it will stay
writeable and other times it will default to be read only.
Hope this helps!
