OK, I've received some really great responses really fast that backed up both
sides of the issue. So much for helping me decide. ;-)
I appreciate the responses very much. Now maybe I should be a little more
specific.
I have received a few queries lately of people trying to locate Mr(s). X . No
particular reason for finding him/her was always mentioned (although if
someone DID give a reason for locating the person, it WAS genealogical). They
didn't necessarily have many details so that would take care of THAT concern,
but the fact that no reason was given made me wonder. Should I just ask "Why
do you need to know?" and take the person at their word? I don't want to be
put in the position of picking who will and will not show up on queries
because I don't like the way they asked.
I have about decided to create a separate page devoted to the subject with
clear guidelines as to what I will post and links to organizations more fully
devoted to tracing living persons. (Any input there would be appreciated <g>).
And a disclaimer stating that if ANYONE involved objects to a particular post,
it will be promptly removed. Seems a reasonable compromise to me.
