Frances,
Sounds like you handled it appropriately. I borrowed an idea from Anthony
in Lancaster for my sites. I create "Family Folder's" for the specific
surname. If the user can't/won't provide some basic information I won't
create the folder nor will I link to their website.

Hi to list:
This is JUST to make sure that #1 you don't get complaints
and #2 more mail is generated over this!
(I've had about 6-8 messages - if you can believe, this so-called web site
consists of one page with 80 names, no links of any sort! - i really don't
see any need beyond what i've done, is to give her maontgomery Co. names and
her e-mail address - If you guys, esp. Berks, Bucks, Chester, phila,
Northampton, lehigh, etc. want to do so, be my guest, but we are NOT
supposed to just automatically put such things up - we ARE supposed to use a
little judgement, no?
Now that SO MANY responded to election, maybe things can calm down.
Sincerely,
Frances Morrison - Mont. Co. coordinator

Dear Frances,
About two weeks ago, when you listed seven of my surnames on the "Montgomery
County Families" web page, you listed only my e-mail address (but NOT the
URL
of my home page as I had requested). As a result, I have not received any
requests for information about my Montgomery County ancestors.
I note, however, that on the same Montgomery County Families page, you
listed
three families (Kehl, Sassaman, Reimer) that had been submitted by Christine
Latch, for which you listed not only her e-mail address, but you ALSO
provided
a link to her home page, "Christine Latch page" (despite the fact that her
home page also includes surnames from surrounding counties, as mine does).
Although the 80 surnames on my "Surnames to Brag About" homepage are not ALL
from Montgomery County, the Coordinators of the other counties have
provided
links on their sub-pages to my homepage.
There are now links to my homepage at:
BERKS County GenWeb at:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~paberks/berks.htm
BUCKS County GenWeb at:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~pacambri/bucks.html
BUCKS County Geocities at:
http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Ranch1006
LEHIGH County GenWeb at:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~palehlinks.htm
NORTHAMPTON Cty Geocities at: http:www.geocities.com/heartland/6508.
In the past two weeks, I have received 5 to 8 e-mails daily from researchers
in those counties, requesting information about my surnames, Frances. I
have
responded to every request in detail, stating from where the people
emigrated,
date of arrival, places they settled, names of spouses, names and birthdates
of their children, burial place, etc., and most responded enthusiastically
that they had found an ancestor - at last, as a result of my Surnames page.
I have been advised by Tammy Lamb, Northampton County GenWeb Coordinator,
that she will provide a link to my page on one of her county pages this
week.
The PA GenWeb Archivist has suggested I should contact you again and urge
you
to PLEASE provide a link to my page on your page entitled "Personal Pages of
Interest," AND to a provide a link to my page at the entry of my surnames
which is currently on your "Montgomery County Families" page. Without such
links to my page, there is no way I can help people in Montgomery County who
are searching for my surnames - much as I am eager to be of help!
I would appreciate it VERY much if you would PLEASE provide a link to my
page
on Montgomery County's "Personal Pages of Interest" and on the
"Montgomery
County Families" page with the surnames that are listed there beside the
link
to my e-mail address.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Gratefully,
Irene Diehl Konrad
