Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
I thought this was a very good summation of one of the problems we've got
with the current vote.
If you haven't voted yet, please do. You may not be interested, but we're
apparently stuck with this unless we pull out of the USGenWeb project. So,
please VOTE. I strongly recommend that you vote NO to the by-laws. I
can't persuade you how to cast your votes for individuals, but I will say I
stand behind our own Nate Zipfel with absolute faith in him.
If you've already voted, you can still change your vote.

That is correct... this second call for votes is only to make sure
EVERYONE gets a ballot.
We'll add a statement to that effect on the ballots too.

Billie,
Are you sure he didn't make a mistake about Cumberland Co. Pa. and
really meant Tn. It is my understanding that all the older records from
the Cumberland Court House have been sent to the Historical Society.
There are still some remaining in the court house in the basement. The
only problem with sending them to the historical society is they place
them in vaults and it takes a while to sort them. Their files do not
show what is available and everything is kept away from the public until
requested. Hard to request if you don't know what is available. The
chicken and the egg situation.
Recheck and be sure he is talking about Pa. If its true, will check
into this.

Forward to whoever.
I took a look thru some of these "problem" votes... and see the
people who are having problems voting putting an
[ x ] candidate
instead of the expected YES, NO, or ABSTAIN.
Correct format should be:
[YES ] Candidate
Anything else put in the []'s is not going to get a valid vote.

immediately sent... only once per hour does it send the waiting

Well i have tried voting on THREE occations and each time it comes back
as vote invalid... does this mean I voted for someone that the "uppers"
see as a threat, or did they mearly forget to try this puppy out before
the time came? either way its crap, my vote doesnt count so why bother.
And like Tammy said, it could be fixed... so whats the point... I
seriously think everything would be so much better with everyone as
equals doing thier part... but I am apparently an idiot. lol Anyhow... I
guess I wont be voting... just wondered if anyone else has had this
problem.
Mary <g>
Someone pointed out a typo in my last message:
<snip>
And for the record, I will probably be withdrawing from the election,
and not run for national coordinator. There IS now power play here.
<snip>
I meant to type: "There is NO power play here."
It was probably my thought about some on the ballot (and their
supporters) that are using The USGenWeb Project as a power play.
Thanks,
Linda
<sigh> The "uppers" are not the evil nasty people some are trying to
make them out to be. Yes, there is a group trying to smear the current
national coordinator and the board, but if you look at who they are -
they are friends of the same folks that secretly incorporated USGenWeb,
and tried to claim ownership of the USGenWeb Project pages. The same
ones that obtained the usgenweb.com domain through very "unethical" (for
lack of a stronger word that could be used against me) methods, but LOST
it when Internic (the folks that control domains) realized how they did
it. The domain was returned to Dale Schneider, the legal registrant.
The ballots have been reissued where there was a problem. It seems there
was a glitch or missing piece in some of them. When you return your
ballot, do NOT remove anything between the specified lines, and make
sure the code "FB0001" or something like that, is WITHIN those lines.
Some of the earlier ballots went out and were missing that code. That's
why some of you received an error message from the automatic voting
machine.
And for the record, I will probably be withdrawing from the election,
and not run for national coordinator. There IS now power play here.
There IS no conspiracy. The current board is TRYING to keep the project
the way it has been for two years, without any group trying to take
advantage of all the volunteer work. There have been other groups that
tried to do it, but when it comes from the "inside", it's more
difficult. <sigh>
Also, Gary Steiner may not have been forwarding all the notices about
the ballot problems that were announced on the state-coordinator mailing
list, because his mail has been bouncing.. both e-mail addresses that
Megan has for him. Gary, if you get this, will you please let Megan know
which e-mail address to use? I've forwarded some messages here, at the
same time I forward them to my VAGenWeb cc's, but I don't want to step
on any toes.. I just want the information to get out so people are
informed as to what is going on.
Does anyone on this list know what falsifying documents means?
Thanks,
Linda

This is Crazy. We are suppose to be adults with the same interest ? Could
have fooled me. My personal opinions are as with any voting it can be fixed.
So whats the point ? If they are going to have by-laws and officers that
change the rules as they see fix I see USGenWeb going right down the drain.

Hi Billie,
Ditto. I sent in the first ballot that came to my box, and the second,
and the third. Just like I was supposed to. Then came duplicates and
errors, and the like. So I deleted them. Sorry for being a party pooper
- I gave it the good college try but am off on other important duties and
don't have the time to decipher which mail is real, which is duplicate
and which is error.
