The old Stroman cemetery at Rocky Creek is in pretty bad shape. In 1900 it
was in a grove of oaks and surrounded by a brick wall with a gate. Today
only about 1/2 of the tombstones remain and it is in the middle of a plowed
field and some of the few remaining stones are chipped and broken or fallen
over. The plows get closer every year and soon all will be gone. I visited
it last spring, took some pictures, and was dismayed.
- Louis Andrews - gggrandson of Charles John Stroman, the last Stroman
buried there and who lived in Dean Swamp, not Rocky Swamp where his father
Jacob lived for 90 years.

I am not familar with the Stroman's in Barnwell county SC.
are Stromans in the Dean Swamp area of Orangeburg county near
This is at least toward Barnwell from Orangeburg. There is an old cemetery
near Rocky Creek about where Stroman's Mill is shown on an 1820 Mills Map.
I have that information somewhere and it has just been recorded by the
Orangeburg Archives in there new cemetery information.
Thanks for the reply and good luck in your search
