Reprimands -
Remember that no one is now nor would they be reprimanded for voicing
their opinion. We are talking about hateful, spiteful, degrading and all out
attacking type of e-mail. We have never seen anything like this on the
OHGenWeb mail list and there is no reason we ever would. This IS something
that can be seen on other lists, however, and we need some protection for
all of you CCs. You should never be afraid to voice your opinion for fear
someone is going to ridicule you or start calling you vile names.
Unsubscribing a CC from this mail list is not something that would be
taken lightly. It would be used as a last measure. It, also, would not be my
decision alone. We have two very capable ASCs. The four of us (SC, 2 ASCs
and the person in question) would enter into the private discussion (step
#1).
This code would also protect all CCs from the SC getting mad at someone
or not liking what they said and unsubscribing them. Since the SC is the
Listowner, that person does have the ability to subscribe or unsubscribe
people. As it stands now, I could conceivably unsubscribe anyone that
disagreed with me. That would not be right and this code would protect you,
the CC, from that ever happening.
At the end of the one week cooling off period there would be a private
discussion between the SC and ASC(s) and the person in question. An effort
would be made to come to an agreement that any infraction that caused the
unsubscription, would cease. If no agreement were possible, the matter would
be presented to the CCs on this list as to what they felt should be done.
Given the interest the current OHGenWeb CCs have shown in doing their job
of helping other Ohio researchers, I can not imagine anyone getting to the
point of being unsubscribed, but without this possibility, what good is it
to say "be nice"? What else is there that would encourage an unruly CC to
step back into the realm of calm discussion.
I appreciate and share your concern. Thank you for the comments!
Peace,
Judy

Some time ago, I tried to unsubscribe from this list. I was told that
I had
to be subscribed to be a CC.
How then, are you going to unsubscribe someone for a week if the offender
does a naughty.
