Hi All,
1.) I see no problem with having a link to a page of items for sale or to
a page of researchers for hire, AS LONG AS, you plainly state on the page
where the link is found that this link does go to a commercial page. There
is nothing stated on the USGenWeb page, but Rootsweb does ask that if
someone makes an excess of $500 from their site, a % is donated to Rootsweb.
Somewhere on
http://www.rootsweb.com you can find the correct wording.
2.) There is nothing keeping you from having a clickable map or a list of
counties from Ohio and/or other states on your site. Do NOT copy and paste
the two such sites on the OHGenWeb site without checking with the people who
put a lot of work into keeping them updated for OHGenWeb. Allen Richmond
keeps up the county list and Maggie Stewart-Zimmerman keeps up the clickable
map.
Peace,
Judy

Hi Judy,
I like this idea. This way everyone knows what is expected & acceptable.
Along these lines I have two questions. I've tried to find this information
on the OHGenWeb site. It might be there, but my time online is limited
these
days, and it is possible I may have missed it. If that is the case,
just
send
me the URL so I can check it out.
1. Can we have a list of paid researchers on our county pages?
(I want & support keeping USGenWeb sites free. But I get requests
for this information. I have mixed feeling about doing this. Just
wondered if this has been already decided. If not, I'd like to know
how other CCs are handling this situation. Let's face it, sometimes
it is a needed service.)
2. Can we have a copy of clickable map or the table of counties on our
county pages, IF we post a date the page was updated, and we update it
often?
(I have a link to both pages, but sometimes I get messages that people
can't get to the site. Also, I think it will make people aware that
there
are more county & state sites. I'm not sure how many read
everything on
my
site to know there is more info out there.)
Thanks,
Kim
