I would like to start this out with a campaign for one of the other
candidates:
I would like to express what a great help Allen Richmond has been to me. He
was Assistant State Coordinator in the past and did a wonderful job of
getting Ohio going in the right direction.
I contact Allen to check out all of my site changes - he replies back to me
quickly with honest and helpful suggestions - and does not criticize.
Allen even goes above and beyond the call of duty. When I was designing the
Belmont OGS site - Allen checked it out then offered to color and resize the
logo for me - which looks great now.
I just want to thank him for all he's done and for being such a great help.
I think Allen is a wonderful person and would make a GREAT State
Coordinator.

Subject: RE: [OHGEN-L] State Coordinator Ballot
1) What do you think the future direction of the OHGenWeb ought to be?
I think the future direction of the OHGenWeb project should be to become the
model state that all others try to imitate; ie: most info online; elegant,
fast loading pages - After all "Ohio is truly the Heart of it All." I think
we can make it the "Heart of the USGenWeb".
2) What kinds of changes or additional information would you want to
include on the OHGenWeb page?
Some of the things I would like to see on the OHGenWeb page include:
1. Comprehensive listing of cities and towns in Ohio.
2. Detailed pages as to the formation of Ohio including dates and county
line changes.
3. Details of Ohio's different land districts.
4. Setup a monthly award for County of the month where the cc's vote.
5. Meet your cc page where we have pictures if desired with a little
background of the cc.
6. Pages for new coordinators with a template - a one place location to get
everything needed for a county page; ie: template, logos.
7. Listing of Ohio census taken and which counties have these census online.
This list is not all inclusive nor in any particular order.
3) Should the requirements for county pages in OHGenWeb be gradually
raised in any way?
I think the general requirements for the USGenWeb are adequate at this time
for the OHGenWeb.
>4) How would you deal with coordinators when their pages that do not
>meet current or future minimum requirements?
I would try to work with them on getting their pages up to the
requirements
and if that didn't work after a time the county would be put up for adoption
(after making the cc aware of this).
5) If you currently maintain one or more county web pages, will you
continue to maintain those pages or turn them over to someone else
should you become the state coordinator?
I have put alot of time and love into Belmont and Guernsey county and would
not give them up for adoption.
>6) Should there be any limit on the number of county pages a single
>person coordinates?
I do not think their should be a limit if all counties a person
has are
managed effectively. I know several cc's who have multiple counties and
they have wonderful sites with massive amounts of data online.
>7) What kind of relationship should the OHGenWeb project have with
>groups like the Ohio Genealogical Society.
I believe that the OHGenWeb and the OGS should have a good working
relationship - after all we are both working towards a common goal -
assisting, helping, and providing information to the genealogical community.
>8) Have you coordinated any other volunteer projects in the past?
Yes, the IIGS style guide.
>9) Do you have the time to devote to the state coordinator's job?
I feel that I do have time to devote to the state job.
>Many thanks for any feedback which you post to this list.
You are welcome.
