Thank you Brad for an excellent unbiased post on the current urgent issues
at hand regarding the future of the USGenWeb Project.
As one who has followed these events closely I too *URGE* everyone who is
interested in the future of this project, that we love so dear, to please
become learned in the events that are occuring.
Our votes for the leaders of this project do count and it is up to each and
everyone of you to please become more aware of what is happening within
it.. this affects all of us. Do not turn the other cheek and think you
don't make a difference.
Informal discussions occur on the Rootsweb Server at the #usgenweb channel,
please feel free to drop in and chat with fellow concerned volunteers.

Everyone subscribed to this list who is interested in the future
>well-being
of the USGenWeb project needs to be aware of a developing situation at the
national level of the project. There is evidently a serious power >struggle
occurring between the newly elected National Coordinator, Nancy Trice, and
the majority of the newly elected National Advisory Board.
On 9/23/98 Nancy Trice sent a message to the Advisory Board which is >quoted
below:
"The Board needs to be aware that you are an advisory board; not a board >of
directors, board of managers, board of administrators - you are a board of
advisors. I need and will seek your advice at monthly meetings and will
abide by them if it is in the best interest of The USGenWeb Project, but
the bylaws specifically say that I handle the day to day business of
USGenWeb."
I would urge, in the strongest terms, that anyone who cares about the
future of the Project should subscribe to USGENWEB-ALL-L(a)rootsweb.com and
become acquainted with the issues that are being discussed there.
Also, take a look at a web page published by the Southeast/Mid Atlantic
Board Representatives at
http://www.rootsweb.com/~daisy/board.htm
It gives a chronological list of some of the developments in this issue.
