Hello All,
The Historical Society of Western Pennsylvania and the Hillman Library
Endowment provided funding for scanning materials from both institutions
in electronic form of old books so rare and fragile. These full text
documents can be found at the University of Pittsburgh's On-Line
Library.
Many of the books date back to when Pittsburgh was spelled without an
"h" on the end,-- and so many of our Ohio Valley ancestors passed
through this area.
Don't overlook Pittsburgh's wealth of material. (The Pennsylvania Room
at the Carnegie Library is rated one of the 4th largest libraries in the
US for historical and genealogical material.)
Eventually 25 volumes of some 600 maps will be scanned adding to our
joys of the great search at this site.
