IMHO, The Archives should be for "original" or microfilmed
copies of the
original records, not for books unless the copyright has expired or there
is express written permission from the copyright holder to put these on the
Archives. >>
As with Alice's point about someone moving the Civil War information she
had put into the Archives for her county, I've been told that the Archives
leaders
do not want books that have been transcribed into HTML. So it seems a good
idea to me to maintain county-specific books and lists with the county it
applies
to, and offer a copy to the Archives, if they want a copy.
I understand that the Archives is searchable, but the "History and
Biographical
Cyclopaedia of Butler County, Ohio" (1882) will also be searchable once I get
it run through Surname Helper. SH will even allow for the book to have a
better
index than was in the original book!
...2 cents...
