Hello,
I'm new to this List so would like to introduce myself and my area(s) of
interest.
As you can see from the Subject line there are several spellings for my
family line. We arrived in the Colonies in 1635 when Ezra COVELL sails into
Boston Harbor on the ship Abigail. He was followed by James COVELL who
settled at Edgartown in March, 1651 and remained there until he died. Some
family members moved to CT and other parts of MA and their descendants then
spread to VT, NY, PA, OH, MI, IL and IA.
Much of the family remained in Madison, Seneca, Washington and Wayne
Counties of NY but some moved on into Bradford County, PA and from there to
MI. Others settled in OH and I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who
has knowledge of this line. It is possible that one of the COVELL women
married a James LEONARD some time in the mid 1800's. He is believed to have
been the sheriff in Wyandotte Co. some time after its formation in 1845.
TIA for any help anyone can provide.
Al Covell

Huron County. It is probable that one of the women married a James Leonard
some time in the mid 1800's.
