I am a big auction fan and was at the bank yesterday and got all the
notices. In looking at one of them, something caught my eye. For this
particular auction, the owners are retiring to Florida and while they
have 100's of items for auction, the following list is a few of the
items up for bid:
1880 Published History of Ross and Highland Counties
1876 Clinton County Atlas
1915 Clinton County History
1900 Howe's History of Ohio 2 vols., repro
1883 History of Brown County, repro
1882 History of Clinton County
1965 Ripley, OH History
1798-1978 Clinton County Cemetary Records
1929 News Journal Souvenir Edition Clinton County
1791-1830 Index of Clermont County of Deeds and Mortgages
History of Rowan County North Carolina
Ency. of American Quaker Genealogy Vol. 4
Civil War Ohio Roster
1910 Book of Clinton Republican Newspapers
Being The CC for Fayette County, OH, I think these books belong in a
library or with the various counties. The auction is in Sabina, OH and
with this particular auctioneer, lots of antique dealers will be there.
I don't know if I will have the financial means to get these books so I
may donate them to the Clinton County library, or even Fayette County
Archives. Can anyone offer any suggestions, etc.? I am going to
contact the auctioneer to see if I can "buy the lot". Also, may contact
the owners to see if they would be willing to let me "buy the lot", of
maybe they would be willing to donate them to the library. Would anyone
else be willing to go to the auction with me to assist in the bidding
and purchasing? These books are too important to let go.
The auction house is Kersey's. Anyone from this area knows who he is
and he is an excellent auctioneer and a good man.
My e-mail is mooper(a)gte.net.
