The Athens District Chapters of OGS are sponsoring a genealogy conferrence on Saturday
October 28, 2006, in the Bob Evans Farms Hall of the University of Rio Grande, Rio Grande,
OH.
The theme for the day is: "How Did Our Ancestors Get Here?": Migration Routes
and Southeastern Ohio
The speakers will be Carrie Eldridge, Ellen L. Brasel, and Henry R Burke
Carrie Eldridge is a Chesapeake, OH native. She has a Masters of Science from Marshall
Univ. in Geography. Among her many publications are several atlases of the migration
routes used by our ancestors. Ellen L Brasel is an Assistant Professor of History at the
University of Rio Grande, and is the 2006 Faculty Fellow of the Madog Center for Welsh
Studies.
Henry R Burke has spent twenty years researching the UnderGround Railroad. His research
and collabration with photographer Charlie Fogle is the basis for the UGRR display of the
Belpre (Ohio) Historical Society Museum.
