It's a program that was installed at the root level of the server. It's not
something that can be added to an individual account.

Would you mind sharing the code you are using? Is it fairly easy to add and
use?

A virus placed on a site generally does not affect other sites on the
server. What has apparently happened in this instance, the hacker found
USGenWeb and was able to guess the password and got in. They then
obviously
clicked all of the links, guessed the passwords and was able to get access
to five state sites.
They were not able to access the Ohio site. I have placed on the server a
program that will ban someone for a half hour who makes three incorrect
login attempts. If they make five incorrect login attempts, they are
banned
permanently until I go in and manually approve them. And about a dozen
times a day I will get an alert that someone has been banned for either
too
many incorrect attempts or for port scanning. The bad guys are hard at
work, folks.

Last summer in August it effected my accounts on
rootsweb/ancestry.com

If this is on a server, then the sites getting infected are on a
certain server? Or am I incorrect in that thinking. If I am correct,
what server is it? I would assume it would involve sites on that server.
