I reworked the OHGenWeb website yesterday with the updates and changes
to the banner headers now listing famous Ohioans instead of Foxworthy
quotes at the request of many of the CC's and also to the CC list
webpage-
http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohgenweb/CClist.htm
I have been working very hard to make the corrections and updates, and
in the process of checking the county websites, Lorraine the ASC and I
1. found a few abandoned sites example- Cuyahoga, Clinton and Hardin;
2. found links to genealogy society websites which were not really
OHGenWeb sites when I contacted the society website contact people-
example Greene, Delaware, and Columbiana; and
3. were contacted by Cc's who wished to retire from the project- example
Columbiana and Ashtabula and Perry.
I put those sites up as available as they were discovered and at the
request of the retiring CC's,and request of the genealogy societies.
Many new people came forward and asked to be considered as CC's for
those available counties. I asked for sample webpages and then made
some choices from those. I still have more sample pages to look at and
will make those updates to the site after the holiday concerning only
the remaining websites which are available/ adoptable.
I wish to publicly announce the new appointments for:
Washington county (please welcome Lorinda LeClain as the new CC)- (Allen
Richmond retired)
Ashtabula county (please welcome Annette Bame Peebles as the new CC)
-(Monica Erickson retired)
Coshocton county (please welcome Sheila Helser who traded spaces with
the previous CC who wanted Sheila's Pennsylvania county)
Cuhahoga county (please welcome Lorraine Newsome and Holly Timm as the
new co CC's of this abandoned website)
Portage county (please welcome Peggy Tebbetts)
I apologize again if I missed anyone.
List of current available counties:
Perry county- Stacy has retired do to time constraints
Columbiana county- previous CC of genealogy society says cannot make
OHGenWeb site do to time constraints
Delaware county- genealogy society asked to be delinked, looking for new
OHGenWeb CC for Delaware county
Ottawa county- looking for a OHenWeb CC for this county
I have not made the updates on the Ohiomap.htm page as of yet, again it
will be a big job of making the correct conversions, as some sites were
given new URL's for the available county and I have to go through each
to make sure the correct URL is listed. Also I am still waiting for
passwords to be issued for several of the counties with new CC's.
It is my intention to make the map page and the CClist.htm page to
match up after the holiday is over.
About the mailing list- I would like to apologize to all CC's for
previous confusions on the mailing list, I am still learning and have to
learn from my mistakes.
I also would like to publicly apologize to Carol Montrose for her site
not being linked, I was in the process of marking her on the CClist
webpage for the trophy and got distracted by a phone call while working
the code. Later when I reuploaded the page I had forgot that what I was
working on was not finished and did not become aware of it until after I
returned from being out of town for the nine days. Thank you Carol.
I still haven't made it through a check of all websites and their links
for the trophy awards, and hope to finish that up in July.
Whew~ I need the holiday coming up as I am sure you all do for rest and
relaxation.
About the holiday -- Lorraine and I will be unavailable to make updates
to the website over this holiday weekend starting with June 30th
through July 5th. We will continue on with the work of the project on
the 6th of July.
I will be able to check email. Please write me at dsabquinn(a)att.net for
any problems which may come up.
On a personal note:
My husband and I celebrate our 27th wedding anniversary tomorrow.
Thursday two weeks ago, I was in a freak auto accident in Ontario Canada
where a semi truck trailer came off its frame and overturned on a
guardrail and onto our rental SUV on the freeway, at 65 miles per hour.
My husband and I were unhurt but the vehicle was damaged. Last week I
had a week of meetings in Athens county and when I got home I found out
my father was rehospitalized for a heart problems, he is since home, and
I got word this morning that my uncle in law in has died and I will be
needing to return to Athens county for his funeral.
I know this is a long email. So much has gone on for me personally and
a lot has been going on at OHGenWeb too and I think the site is going to
be one of the best out there for researchers thanks to all the great CC's!
Lorraine and I wish you all a safe and happy holiday!
Thank you all!
