Don - Mary Ann gave you the 'key' to administrating the board. In the URL
for the Board where it says "=board", you change it to say
"=admin.board"
and then you are taken to the administrative version of the Board. Of
course, you have to be logged in as the same individual who claimed the
Boards <grin>. And, last I noticed, you needed to allow Ancestry to set
cookies so that your login identity was preserved when you moved through the
screens.
When you are logged in, you can also change your Profile so that you can
correct e-mail address changes. In Administrative mode, you can also edit
the Links & Announcements to your liking.
However, we can no longer edit posts as we did with GenConnect. We can only
edit the subject line or change the category (I think). I only today tried
to correct one of my own posts (a silly typo but it changes the spelling of
a surname) and I was not permitted, even as owner of the post, to make any
changes to the text of the message. I think you can make a request to
remove an entire post as the owner now but that has to go through a review
process.
My old system (win3.1) with only an early Java (Netscape 3) doesn't like the
Ancestry Boards. Those Boards use code and scripts my machine can't handle
(too old and not upgradeable). I can only admin my surname boards at my
mother's and I don't have time to 'play' with them there. My surnames
are
rather inactive so there is never much to do. I can't check things on this
machine where I send messages. Mary Ann sounds more experienced <grin>.....
If I have something wrong, I hope someone corrects.
If you want me to walk you through it more, contact me privately and I'll
use my mom's machine and my other account.

Ok, Wally, for some time I have been looking at the Carroll, Clinton
and Van
Wert boards for which I am administrator, and haven't figured out how to
edit the posts. My email address has changed, and needs to be revised on
many posts.
Yes, there is an email in my file stating that I am still administrator of
these and two personal boards.
Thanks for your help.
